Michigan football entered the month of June with just five commitments and was languishing in the recruiting services’ team rankings as a result. Fast forward just a few weeks, and not only is the board much clearer but the Wolverines managed to bring in seven pledges from then to now.

The board has changed quite a bit since the May edition of our best guess list. Many players who appeared (even some with low confidence) ended up committing. Of the seven who pledged, we got Jaylen Williams, Chase Taylor, Kainoa Winston, Kaden Strayhorn, and Donovan Johnson right. The Marrero (La.) Archbishop Shaw duo of Jasper Parker and Jacob Washington, however, were not on our list.

We also got some wrong. Michael Carroll committed to Alabama, Douglas Utu and Tre Poteat committed to Tennessee, Jahmari Deloatch committed to Cincinnati, and Quincy Porter committed to Ohio State. Some others we had on the board appear to be trending elsewhere while some surprising names came up for the maize and blue this month.

There are some players who could end up in the class (RB Jordon Davison and WR Derek Meadows) but Michigan will likely be edged out in the end.

That said, now that the recruiting board is much clearer, here is our late-June best guess list of what the class will look like.

QB Carter Smith

COMMITTED

School: Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot

Rating: 4-star, No. 161 overall (247Sports Composite)

Smith was key in helping recruit some of Michigan football’s recent commits as well as targets during Victors Weekend. He also was avidly recruiting the Wolverines’ first 2026 pledge, QB Brady Hart.

RB Donovan Johnson

COMMITTED

School: Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy)

Rating: 4-star, No. 233 overall (247Sports Composite)

Had it not been for a torn ACL which kept Johnson out for the entirety of his junior year of high school, he may have been a five-star. Once ranked in the 40s overall, Johnson was thought of as having the potential of being the top back in the 2025 class.

RB Jasper Parker

RB coach Tony Alford. Photo: Isaiah Hole

COMMITTED

School: Marrero (La.) Archbishop Shaw

Rating: 3-star, No. 442 overall (247Sports Composite)

The first of the two running back commits, Parker has a lot to work with at the next level.

WR Jacob Washington

WR coach Ron Bellamy. Photo: Isaiah Hole

COMMITTED

School: Marrero (La.) Archbishop Shaw

Rating: 4-star, No. 320 overall (247Sports Composite)

Washington is the sole WR commit at this juncture. But at 6-foot-3, he provides length that Michigan football has sorely been missing from wide receiver recruits in recent years.

WR Andrew Marsh

Photo: Isaiah Hole

Confidence: 8 out of 10

School: Fulshear (Tx.) Katy Jordan

Rating: 4-star, No. 67 overall (247Sports Composite)

It seemed like a longshot that Michigan football could get Marsh as he appeared Oklahoma-bound, but Marsh canceled his trip to Norman and came to Ann Arbor for an official visit instead. All indications are that he will be a Wolverine when he decides in either August or November.

Read Marsh’s visit reaction here.

WR Phillip Wright

WR coach Ron Bellamy. Photo: Isaiah Hole

Confidence: 7 out of 10

School: Destrehan (La.)

Rating: 3-star, No. 514 overall (247Sports Composite)

We had Wright with a confidence of 2 out of 10 last time around, but now we feel much better about the chances of the Wolverines getting yet another Louisiana native in the class.

TE Eli Owens

Brianna Paciorka-Knoxville News Sentinel

COMMITTED

School: Alcoa (Tenn.)

Rating: 4-star, No. 399 overall (247Sports composite)

Owens has been committed since January and should be a lock to remain in the class. He has offers from Alabama, Ohio State and Tennessee.

TE Andrew Olesh

Sherrone Moore. Photo: Isaiah Hole

Confidence: 7 out of 10

School: Center Valley (Pa.) Southern Lehigh

Rating: 4-star, No. 84 overall (247Sports Composite)

Olesh appears to be leaning Michigan, and has for some time, but Alabama is giving him a lot to think about. We’re staying with Michigan to be his school of choice.

OL Andrew Babalola

Head coach Sherrone Moore is a Kansas native. Photo: Isaiah Hole

Confidence: 5 out of 10

School: Overland Park (Kan.) Blue Valley Northwest

Rating: 5-star, No. 14 overall (247Sports Composite)

Far from being a foregone conclusion, Babalola appears to now be looking at Stanford and Michigan football as his two schools. The Wolverines made a big push on his official visit and it appears he may be leaning towards the maize and blue.

OL Kaden Strayhorn

Photo: Isaiah Hole

COMMIT

School: Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy

Rating: 3-star, No. 437 overall (247Sports Composite)

One of our predictions from last month, Strayhorn did end up bucking his Spartan legacy in favor of the maize and blue.

OL Avery Gach

Photo: Isaiah Hole

COMMITTED

School: Birmingham (Mich.) Groves

Rating: 4-star, No. 153 overall (Rivals)

Gach just made a strong impression at the Rivals Five-Star Camp and should be seeing a rankings bump as a result of being named OL MVP.

OL Hardy Watts

OL coach Grant Newsome. Photo: Isaiah Hole

Confidence: 7 out of 10

School: Brookline (Mass.) Dexter School

Rating: 4-star, No. 119 overall (On3)

Once thought to be a Clemson lean, analysts expect Watts to choose Michigan football when he makes his decision on July 1.

DL Bobby Kanka

Michigan football 2025 recruiting class best guess list - June (15)

Photo: Isaiah Hole

COMMITTED

School: Howell (Mich.)

Rating: 4-star, No. 357 overall (On3 Industry Ranking)

It was unclear whether or not Kanka would end up in the class and he even took a visit to rival Michigan State. But he’s now in the fold and has reaffirmed his pledge and thus appears to still be a take.

DL Nate Marshall

Michigan football 2025 recruiting class best guess list - June (16)

Photo: Isaiah Hole

COMMITTED

School: Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick

Rating: 4-star, No. 23 overall (Rivals)

Marshall made a surprise visit to Auburn to the shock of the Michigan football staff and it started appearing as if he was wavering on his commitment. But after his official visit, it looks like he will likely stay in the class.

DL Jaylen Williams

Michigan football 2025 recruiting class best guess list - June (17)

DL coach Lou Esposito. Photo: Isaiah Hole

COMMITTED

School: Palatine (Ill.)

Rating: 4-star, No. 235 overall (247Sports)

Things had cooled between Michigan football and Williams but shortly after his official visit, he became the first commit in the month of June to the class.

EDGE Marco Jones

Michigan football 2025 recruiting class best guess list - June (18)

recruiting

Confidence: 5 out of 10

School: Danville (Calif.) San Ramon Valley

Rating: 4-star, No. 122 overall (247Sports)

USC has the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine lead for Jones but he appears likely to head out of state. Michigan and Texas have as good a shot as anyone, but it remains unclear where he’s leaning.

Read our interview with Jones here.

EDGE Julius Holly

DC Wink Martindale. Photo: Isaiah Hole

Confidence: 5 out of 10

School: Alpharetta (Ga.)

Rating: 4-star, No. 236 overall (On3)

Georgia has the lead in the On3 RPM, but Michigan football did a nice job on the visit and is in striking distance. We have him in the class as of now.

LB Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng

Michigan football 2025 recruiting class best guess list - June (20)

Doug McSchooler-Indianapolis Star

Confidence: 8 out of 10

School: Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy

Rating: 4-star, No. 28 overall (Rivals)

Notre Dame seemed to be the team to beat and Ohio State made a strong push but Owusu-Boateng came out of his visit to Ann Arbor saying it was his best visit yet. It feels like he’s going to be in the class, but there’s a strong chance he pushes his recruitment either to late summer or early signing day, allowing other teams a chance to get into the fold.

Read Owusu-Boateng’s visit reaction here.

LB Chase Taylor

Michigan football 2025 recruiting class best guess list - June (21)

COMMITTED

School: Stockbridge (Ga.)

Rating: 3-star, No. 559 overall (247Sports Composite)

Taylor committed to Michigan football after his official visit this weekend. The staff is much higher on him than his ranking indicates.

LB Kamar Archie

LB coach Brian Jean-Mary. Photo: Isaiah Hole

Confidence: 5 out of 10

School: Princeton (N.J.) Hun School

Rating: 4-star, No. 196 overall (On3)

Michigan slow-played Archie and now Rutgers and Clemson are more in the mix than they could have been. The Wolverines are still in good standing but have some work to do. We think with a push they can get it done.

S Kainoa Winston

Michigan football 2025 recruiting class best guess list - June (23)

DB coach LaMar Morgan. Photo: Isaiah Hole

COMMITTED

School: Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga

Rating: 4-star, No. 43 overall (247Sports)

After seeming to be a Penn State lean, Winston pulled the trigger for Michigan football after his official visit.

S Ivan Taylor

Michigan football 2025 recruiting class best guess list - June (24)

Paul Ryan-Leesburg Daily Commercial

Confidence: 5 out of 10

School: Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange

Rating: 4-star, No. 41 overall (247Sports)

Committed to Notre Dame, Taylor officially visited Michigan football and does appear to strongly be considering a flip. As of now, he’s more likely than JaDon Blair to end up in the class, we believe.

S Jordan Young

Confidence: 5 out of 10

School: Monroe (N.C.)

Rating: 4-star, No. 36 overall (On3)

Will Michigan football take three safeties? In absence of getting the corners they want, it’s certainly possible. Young isn’t necessarily leaning Michigan, but he had a good visit and the Wolverines have a shot.

CB Alex Graham

Michigan football 2025 recruiting class best guess list - June (25)

Dennis Maffezzoli – Herald-Tribune

Confidence: 5 out of 10

School: Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy

Rating: 4-star, No. 131 overall (Rivals)

Committed to Colorado, the Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech star who transferred to IMG Academy ended up visiting Ann Arbor in June. Quite familiar with the program, and Michigan football needing cornerbacks, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Graham follow in the footsteps of many of his IMG teammates and play in Ann Arbor.

CB Shamari Earls

Michigan football 2025 recruiting class best guess list - June (26)

Photo: Isaiah Hole

Confidence: 4 out of 10

School: Chester (Va.) Thomas Dale

Rating: 4-star, No. 68 overall (247Sports)

Committed to South Carolina, it feels like Georgia has the momentum for Earls. But for the lack of other viable CB targets at the moment, we have him in the class, just with low confidence. He did visit in the month of June.
