Recruiting visitors list for Michigan’s 2024 spring game (2024)

Michigan is getting ready for its spring game in Ann Arbor on Saturday and we’re keeping an eye on recruits who are supposed to be making the trip. It’s been a busy few weeks for Michigan’s coaching staff, hosting recruits each week for the past month or so and this weekend is no exception.

Here is this week’s expected visitors list.

Carter Smith, four-star QB (2025)

Michigan’s quarterback of the future will be in Ann Arbor this weekend, not only cheering on the maize and blue, but also recruiting his peers to join him at Michigan. Getting Smith back on campus is key for some of the other players visiting this weekend.

Bobby Kanka, four-star DL (2025)

Kanka is another commit planning on being at the spring game. However, he has reportedly planned official visits for Michigan State and Tennessee for later this summer. Him coming back for the spring game is important so he can bond with new defensive line coach Lou Esposito and also connect with some of his other potential classmates.

Iverson Howard, four-star RB (2025)

At 5-foot-10 and 175 pounds, Iverson could be the next running back from the DMV area to commit to Michigan. He’s trending toward Michigan right now, despite the change in coaching staff for his position. He has already locked in an official visit for this summer, so he will be back in just a couple month’s time. He holds other offers from schools like Oregon, Penn State, Wisconsin and more.

Nate Marshall, four-star DL (2025)

Marshall is one of the best defensive line prospects in the country with offers from Alabama, Miami, Oregon, Ohio State and many others. Michigan offered Marshall last season, and with the coaching changes on Michigan’s defense, this will be a good opportunity for Lou Esposito to bond with Marshall in person. He will be back for an official visit the first weekend of June.

Mark Zackery IV, four-star CB (2025)

Zackery IV has a top-four of Michigan, Notre Dame, Florida and Cincinnati. With changes to Michigan’s defensive coaching staff, this should be a great opportunity for Zackery to connect with new defensive backs coach LaMar Morgan in person. He has a couple Crystal Balls for Notre Dame, but a good visit and clarity on Michigan’s direction this weekend could change things up.

Marco Jones, four-star edge (2025)

At 6-foot-5 and 230 pounds, Jones hails from Danville, California and is a top-150 prospect in his class. Michigan offered him last May, and he has other offers from the likes of Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Penn State and more. He had a monster junior campaign and showed off his versatility, racking up 166 total tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, four pass breakups, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, three interceptions and two pick-sixes.

Xavier Newsom, four-star edge (2025)

Newsom — who is from down the road in Detroit — is listed at 6-foot-5, 220 pounds. He is another guy trending toward Michigan, but has offers from Penn State, Tennessee, Purdue, and Toledo. He’s a top-10 recruit in the state of Michigan this cycle.

Derek Meadows, four-star WR (2025)

Meadows is a 6-foot-5, 200-pounder from Las Vegas. Michigan got into the game a little later with Meadows, making him an offer on Jan. 31. This weekend could be a great opportunity for him to connect with his former high school teammate and current Wolverine, freshman running back Micah Ka’apana. There is currently one Crystal Ball in favor of Notre Dame.

Kamar Archie, four-star LB (2025)

At 6-foot-1, 215 pounds, Archie is from Trenton, New Jersey. Michigan has had an offer out to Archie since Feb. 2022. At the time, On3’s Zach Libby reported that Archie’s favorite player growing up was Jabrill Peppers. Perhaps this trip to Ann Arbor could show him why Peppers decided to play for Michigan.

Phillip Wright, three-star WR (2025)

The Destrehan, Louisiana native stands 5-foot-11 and weighs 160 pounds. He has had an offer from Michigan since last November. At the beginning of the month, he picked up an offer from Georgia, so he could be in line for a bump in the rankings.

Quinn Morris, three-star WR (2025)

Morris is the younger brother of current Michigan wideout Tyler Morris and has been on campus dozens of times at this point. His only other offers at this point are from Minnesota and Ball State, but he has visited other schools like Purdue and Illinois as well.

Luke Wafle, four-star edge (2026)

A top-100 player in his class, Wafle is the brother of incoming true freshman defensive lineman, Owen Wafle. Michigan offered him back in January. Since then, he picked up offers from Big Ten teams like Wisconsin, Penn State, and most recently Ohio State. He’s also got some offers from SEC programs like Georgia, Tennessee and Texas.

Jabari Mack, four-star WR (2026)

Another wide receiver from Louisiana, Mack is a top-50 overall prospect in his class and holds offers from Oregon, Florida State, Penn State, Texas and others. Michigan is competing with pass-heavy programs, but with a new and younger coaching staff, maybe the coaching staff can show him Ann Arbor is the place for him.

BJ Garrett, WR (2026)

Hey, another wide receiver! Garret doesn’t have an offer from Michigan yet, but he has one from Syracuse, West Virginia and Pittsburgh, to name a few. He’s a 6-foot-3, 165-pounder from Delaware.

Payton Cook, WR (2026)

Ron Bellamy is going to be busy this weekend meeting with a ton of receivers. Cook is a 6-foot-2 receiver from Akron, Ohio. Michigan offered him in Jan. 2023, so the staff has had some time to build a relationship with him. He’s also earned offers from Wisconsin, Purdue, Indiana, and Louisville this year.

JC Anderson, TE (2026)

Unlike the last several guys on the list, Anderson isn’t a receiver. In fact, he’s a 6-foot-7 tight end from Decatur, Illinois. Anderson has offers from Iowa, Notre Dame, Missouri, and Michigan State, to name a few. He doesn’t have an offer from Michigan yet, but it wouldn’t surprise to see Steve Casula be more interested in him moving forward.

Michael Gildea, OL (2026)

Gildea is a 6-foot-4, 290-pound offensive lineman from Princeton, New Jersey. He has offers from Boston College and Vanderbilt right now, but just took an unofficial visit to Penn State at the end of March. He hasn’t received an offer from Michigan yet, but we’ll watch and see if things change after this weekend.

Sam Hamilton, TE (2026)

New tight ends coach Steve Casula is listed as the primary recruiter for Hamilton, who has yet to offer him. Hamilton is a 6-foot-3, 205-pounder from Cincinnati, Ohio; he plays at the same high school that incoming true freshman running back Jordan Marshall played at.

Mack Sutter, TE (2026)

Currently unranked on 247Sports’ composite, Sutter is already the requisite height for the position at 6-foot-6. With offers from the likes of Alabama, Ole Miss, Penn State, Wisconsin and others, that will likely change at some point.

Demari Clemons, CB (2026)

Clemons is a 5-foot-9, 155-pound corner from Buffalo, New York. While he might not be the tallest or biggest guy, he’s getting offers from other Big Ten programs like Penn State and Michigan State. Clemons had an unofficial visit to Happy Valley on April 13, so we’ll see if his visit in Ann Arbor moves the needle.

Ace Brown, ATH (2026)

Another Akron, Ohio native coming up for the spring game, Brown stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 180 pounds. He used to play tight end, but could end up at linebacker at the collegiate level. He does not have an offer from Michigan just yet, but does have some offers from Kentucky and a few MAC schools.

Jarvis Potts, OL (2026)

Potts is a relative unknown, but according to his social media, he is 6-foot-4, 290 pounds and from Cornelius, North Carolina. He holds offers from Boston College and Marshall.

Jayden Dean, OL (2027)

Dean is already 6-foot-2 and 254 pounds for a high school freshman. Michigan hasn’t offered the Florida native yet, but he does have some from Penn State, Colorado, Auburn, Ole Miss and FIU, among others. He’s clearly received attention from other coaches, we’ll see if anything changes after a visit to Ann Arbor this weekend.
