Aside from the main gacha game factor that both games share, Wuthering Waves and Genshin Impact take open-world RPGs to new heights. There are some terms which can be easy to recognize and remember for Genshin Impact veterans who are new to the Kuro Games specifications. But a majority of Wuthering Waves’ specifications are completely new and somewhat incorporate a blend of what Tower Of Fantasy players might be used to.

Astrites vs Primogems

The main source of gacha in Wuthering Waves is the Astrite. In Genshin Impact terms, these are your Primogems. The crystals you get through exploration, activating beacons, opening chests, and completing quests. You can also obtain astrite through leveling up characters, Union Level, and Sol-3 Phase Level.

Lustrous Tide vs Acquaint Fate

The Lustrous Tide is a source of currency that can only be used on the Wuthering Waves standard banner. Like the standard banner in Genshin Impact, players should also be aware that it is a permanent banner and only uses specific currency for Gacha pulls. It also advised to only use Lustrous Pulls on the standard banner and NOT use Astrites. This is because Astrites can also be used on Limited Banners to pull specific characters and their weapons.

Radiant Tide vs Intertwined Fate

The Radiant Tides can ONLY be used on Limited Banners that run in Wuthering Waves and are considered a rare currency. Astrites can also be converted into Radiant Tides to pull on banners when players reach a certain number.

Forging Tide

A significant and noteworthy difference between Genshin Impact’s and Wuthering Waves’ weapon banner is that the latter has a special type of currency for it. Players can only use Forging Tides to pull on the weapon banner and nothing else.

Lunite vs Genesis Crystal

This is your real in-game currency that you buy to purchase more Astrites. Players can purchase Lunites from the in-game store to obtain Astrites and Radiant Tides to aid their gacha pulls.

Lunite Subscription vs Blessing Welkin

Similar to other gacha games, Wuthering Waves also incorporates a monthly subscription system where players can use real-life money to purchase cards. The Lunite Subscription awards a set amount of Astrite daily, along with additional rewards for players to claim.

Oscillate/Afterglow Coral vs Stardust/Starglitter

Oscillate and Afterglow Corals are basically in-game vouchers that players earn through gacha pulling. You obtain it each time you pull on any banner, and it can be redeemed in the game’s shop for items that range from money to ascension materials.

Shell Credits and Resonance Potions

These are your necessities to advance through the game. Shell Credits is the money you will need to level up your characters and purchase various things in the game. Resonance Potions, on the other hand, act as character-level experience materials. In Genshin terms, it’s the equivalent of Hero’s Wits and Mora.

Weapon Enhancement Materials

Weapon enhancement materials are pretty straightforward and can also be found around the map. In Wuthering Waves, you use Energy Cores to level up weapons. This is the equivalent of the Enhancement Ore players give the blacksmith in Genshin Impact before leveling a weapon.

Waveplate and Crystal Solvents

All games include a system where players can replenish a daily amount of energy to use for farming. This is the main energy that has to be consumed to receive any sort of rare reward, either in challenges or boss fights. The Waveplate is the main energy resource and players receive 240 Waveplate every 18 hours.

If players run out, the game awards them, through various challenges and quests, Crystal Solvents. These replenish your resources and act as Fragile Resin from Genshin Impact. However, players should keep in mind not to misuse them as Crystal Solvents are in low supply and should only be used when they are really needed. It’s always safer in the endgame to wait for your Waveplate to fully replenish and use it the next day.

Sonance Caskets

Sonance Caskets act as the main resource to level up your Sonance Casket rank. You can exchange them with the help of Relic Merchants around the area. The closest would be Chenpi in Jinzhou. These are similar to Oculus in Genshin Impact and after submitting them, you can further advance in the game.

Sensor vs Elemental Sight

The Sensor is a module in players' Utility that allows them to see something not quite there. It works parallel to Genshin Impact’s Elemental Skill mechanic, and you can find various collectibles or enemy weaknesses. To activate it, simply head to the Utility screen from the main menu and toggle on the sensor for quick access. This will allow players to quickly switch between the Sensor and Grapple if need be.

Gliding, Flying And Grappling

Wuthering Waves has an interesting technique for flying in the air, and it’s called Grappling. This could be slightly similar to Genshin Impact’s usage of the Grana system for exploration and challenges. However, it can be used anytime in the air whilst flying, even when there is no preset module to grapple on in the surrounding area.

In addition, flying also works the same way, where players only need to jump twice to activate their glider.

Resonance Nexus and Resonance Beacons

Wuthering Waves vs Genshin Impact: What's the Difference? (7)

This is what Rovers use to travel around Solaris - 3 and the Resonance Nexus is the main point which unlocks the map. Think of this as the Statue of Seven from Genshin Impact and the Resonance Beacons around the map are Teleportation Waypoints.

Rover vs Traveler

Wuthering Waves vs Genshin Impact: What's the Difference? (8)

There are only a few minor differences, but all the attributes are pretty much the same. The only difference is the terminology used:

  • Resonance Chain = Constellations
  • Attribute (Aero, Glacio, Electro, etc.) = Elements
  • Forte = Talent
  • Resonance Skill = Elemental Skill
  • Resonance Liberation = Elemental Burst AKA Character Ultimates
  • Echoes = Artifacts (they give characters stat boosts)
  • SOL - 3 Phase = World Level
  • Union Level = Adventure Rank
  • Tower of Adversity = Spiral Abyss (this is endgame content)
